This is the military organization that serves as the governing body of the nation of Amestris. In the last century, Amestris has undergone many political changes, and now boasts a democratically appointed Senate that serves under the now elected Führer President. The Senate consists of military officers of various rank, but the Führer President is elected by the common people from the many General's in the State Military. Despite these positive changes, the events caused by the Homunculus 100 years ago have led to a population decline, and the disappeared support of their organization has harmed the economy. Amestris must now rebuild itself, fighting off the Ishbalan rebels who still remember what the former Amestrian government did to their people.
Ranks and Classes in the State Military
(*Note: There are many military ranks, so to make the system easier to work with, we are including as few of the ranks as possible, and sticking to the ones mentioned in the show. If in the future, when we get a substantially large amount of member, we will add new ranks to the list.)
Führer President: This faction's leader. He is elected by the common people of Amestris (appointed by popular vote, or by the forum staff), and holds supreme command over all personnel in the State Military, and has the responsibility of governing Amestris.
Senate Members: They assist the Furher President in governing Amestris. They come from the ranks of the military, and are voted in by both their comrades and the common people. (Chosen by fellow faction members or appointed by forum staff)
Officer Ranks
Generals: These men control entire armies under the order of the Furher President, each in their own area. There are only ever 5 Generals at any given time, one in the North, one in the South, one in the East, one in the West, and one in Central. The Furher is not included in this count. Each one controls 500 enlisted NPC's.
Brigadier General: There are 2 Brigadier Generals under each General. These men act as advisers to the Generals, and generally have more battle experience, but less officer training than the Generals. They control 200 enlisted NPC's.
Field Officers
Colonel: They command from the front lines, risking their lives, and the lives of their men for the good of the common people. Controls 100 enlisted NPC's.
Lieutenant Colonel: There is 1 Lt. Colonel for every Colonel. These men and women are the second in command out in the field, and they relay to Colonel's orders to the soldiers.
Major: They control a squad of 25 enlisted NPC's. State Alchemists are also of this rank by default, but are listed separately.
Captain: They command a team 5 enlisted men, and each have one or two Lieutenants. (If there are not enough player characters, they control 5 enlisted NPC's)
Lieutenant: There are either 1 or 2 Lieutenants for each Captain, and they are the second-in-command of a team of 5 enlisted men.
State Alchemist: An Alchemist qualified to work for the State Military. State Alchemists start with the rank of Major, but don't have direct command of a squadron, but they can give orders to those ranked lower than them in extreme situations. Often working independently, State Alchemists can only be given orders from those above the rank of Colonel, unless assigned as a 6th member to a team under one of the Captains. (Note that if a higher rank is available, you may choose one for your State Alchemist.)
Enlisted Ranks
Sergeant: The senior soldier of a team of 5 enlisted men. Holds no special authority, but his experience and opinions are valued among his teammates. There isn't always a Sergeant on every team.
Corporal: Your average soldier in the ranks of the State Military. They are usually assigned to 5 man teams, which often includes a Sergeant.
